Initially I thought there wasn’t anything done today, as had been for the previous hand full of days. The majority of this misconception was due to laziness, as I chose to peek through the small hole in the dust barrier instead of simply opening the door. From the perspective of the peep hole, one cannot see the floor. Today was known by some as hump day, but apparently it’s also ‘finish the floor’ day in our house. The basic pattern and sanding of the old and new flooring got completed. It is quite difficult to tell where the old floor ended, and the hope is that this visual fluidity will carry over even after the protective coats are applied. For the next couple days after the protective varnish coats are applied, the kitchen will be off limits as it dries. Hopefully the smell won’t be too potent, but yet another progressive milestone has been made in the adventures of new kitchen-dom. Then again as they always say, “wooda coulda shoulda”. No idea where that come from, but I’d blame the fumes if they were present yet. In any case, having floors is always a good foundation…
