Kitchen remodel finished like soap

kitchen remodel glass subway tile

All kitchens must have soap, and our kitchen is no exception. It is 99 99/100% finished. There are a couple panels and one errant drawer that needs to be replaced, but other than those pieces landing and being installed, it is all done. Now we begin the process of moving back in and deciding where things go. It’s nice to have access to a refrigerator in the house. We have not decide what to bake in the new ovens, and overall are in the ‘new car’ stage of the kitchen where we are having fun playing with it, but afraid to actually use it. There are still various odds and ends still needing to be purchased such as stools and shelf liners. Originally there was suppose to be a stainless steel backing and shelf behind the stove, but through some error it doesn’t fit by like a half an inch. Luckily we have the entire backsplash tiled (in case we were ever to take out the stainless steel backing) so it doesn’t have a giant hole above the cooktop. It’s been a fun journey but it is now enjoyably over, and we can get back to normal kitchen life. So many other kitchens are under construction, it will be great to see them all completed. Until then enjoy the final pix …

Kitchen remodel green glass subway tiles

green glas subway tile

Initially the choice was 3×6 inch steel blue glass subway tiles with a light blue accent tile. But somewhere in the mix we decided that the primary walls would be green and that the green glass subway tiles with a light green accent tile would be a little more lively. The Fusion quartzite island had matching green and blue embedded within it, and the emerald pearl countertops eased right into the theme. The whole combination is a pleasant splash in contrast to the various stainless steel appliances soon to be installed. And apparently as we continue to find blue and green things about the house it was a more of a subliminal color choice than we had realized.  So far the only drawback has been the replacement of the kitchen window, which originally was mostly hazed, cracked and not viewable, now allows us to see outside (which is not really a sight to be seen). We are now trying to determine the best approach to this, whether the answer be shades, custom stain glass insert or other ideas that allow light in, but obscure the very non-scenic perspective. Appliances are running a bit late on order, but it’s hopeful that those too will be installed. Until then browse away.
